Minneapolis singer/songwriter Diedrich Weiss enlisted Burning House to design the website and album art for his first two releases, “Red Bird Rising” and “Public Songs for Private Use.” For the web project Burning House created an intricately-detailed online space built entirely around objects from Diedrich’s personal history. After nearly 4 years, it was time to provide Sweet Meats (a Burning House family product) with a facelift, as well as some much-needed infrastructure changes–including massive search engine optimization. The new Sweet Meats site is a streamlined, attractive e-commerce site with exquisite XHTML/CSS.

Burning House had a wedding in the redwoods this year, and for the invitations designed a clever wheel based on a tree-ring pattern to give guests the relevant information without overwhelming the design with text. 2 pieces of untreated cardboard letterpressed in 3 colors, with a wooden plug allowing the top to spin.

After the release of their second album, Burning House was asked to redesign “The Pantsing,” the official website for Pants Pants Pants. Note that the programming of the site was handled by Pants Pants Pants and the site has changed from its original form.

Bay Area instrumental trio Parker Street Cinema enlisted Burning House to help visually represent the driving, electro-tinged rock of their debut album, Music, In The Blood–without relying too heavily on the strong imagery suggested by the title. To capture the interplay between light and dark elements, the majestic and the brooding, Burning House combined hand drawn materials with paper textures, patterns, and found imagery–mostly taken from a series of antique children’s books–into a striking suite of images as densely layered as the music.

For Pants Pants Pants’ sophomore release, Ok Fine, Burning House Design created a custom CD package that folds out into a fortune teller with multiple collage configurations, which can also be folded completely flat as a 20" x 20" poster. The disc is protected by the folded booklet and a paper sleeve. When folded into its fortune teller configuration, the package can act as a table display for the disc.
